SMTP Authentication adjustments

Saturday, April 19, 2014

Dear All

Please be aware that by the end of April, you will need to ensure that all of your email clients/software programs are adjusted to use "SMTP Authentication"

===============================================================================
Within your email software, such as Outlook, under the properties of each email address > Advanced settings,
you will find a box that says "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" which is typically already unticked.

This is what you will now need to tick, and use, as we will be disabling POP authentication at the end of April.
===============================================================================

Here is what it looks like in Outlook:

By the end of April we will be disabling "POP before SMTP authentication" for good, to further improve security.
Anybody using webmail does not need to do anything at all.

Thunderbird users only need to ensure "Password - Transmitted insecurely" is the authentication method and connection security = None.

If you have any questions or need help with making this adjustment then please let us know in the next 10 days.
