Distributed Denial of service attacks

Dear All
Just to let you know that a short while ago our network experienced a distributed denial of service attack. This caused all websites to "appear" down, when in fact all servers were fine, but our network equipment was coping with the load and mitigating the attack constantly.
This has now settled down, but we are keeping a close eye on network traffic, as we normally do anyway.
